St. Mark Catholic School School Advisory Committee
In accordance with the provision of Canon Law and the policies of the Diocese of Raleigh, NC, the Advisory Committee is established to assist and advise the
Principal of St. Mark, who in turn is accountable to the Pastor of St. Mark Catholic Church, and to the Superintendent of Schools for the Diocese. The Principal
with the Advisory Committee's assistance will be better able to provide quality Catholic education for the students of St. Mark.
The Advisory Committee:
- Advises in implementing policies and regulations as stated in the “Handbook for Administrators of Catholic School and Early Childhood Centers” issued by the Diocesan Superintendent of Schools for the Diocese.
- Meets with the Principal and the Pastor at regularly scheduled intervals throughout the school year on matters related to the operation and administration of St. Mark.
- Proposes policies, long-range plans and ongoing assessment that relate to the overall operation of St. Mark to ensure a quality Catholic education for its students.
- Assists the Principal or the Principal’s designee, in collaboration with representatives of St. Mark Catholic Church’s Parish Finance Committee, in preparing, reviewing implementing and monitoring the annual budget as allocated by the Parish Finance Committee. Such assistance shall be subject to the approval of the Pastor, the Bishop of the Diocese and his staff.
- Helps gain support of various groups and public entities for the betterment of St. Mark and helps to serve as a “sounding-board” for the St. Mark community of issues of interest to St. Mark.
- Helps to create a thorough understanding of Catholic education and promotes financial support for St. Mark.
- Cooperates with and supports the Principal in his/her role as defined by guidelines established by the Diocese.
- Assists in instituting programs to secure an endowment and additional sources of funds for St. Mark.
- Assists the Principal in evaluating the maintenance and overall operation of the St. Mark facilities.
- Establishes a nominating sub-committee to develop policies and procedures for electing any new member to serve with existing members on the Advisory Committee, whether due to resignation, termination, or the expiration of a current Member’s term.
- Provides any other assistance to help maintain the efficient operation of St. Mark including, but not limited to operations, instruction and curriculum.
- Provides any other assistance as requested by the Pastor or the Principal.
- Aids in recruitment of personnel for St. Mark when requested by the Principal and/or the Pastor.
- Upon request, provides copies of approved Regular Meeting minutes to the Superintendent.
